Today I wanted to show you a little behind the scenes of where I work each day and my studio! I have the cutest little office down in the Riverside area of Jacksonville where I hold my consultation at, but my day to day operations are done from my home studio. When my husband and I built our house last year, I knew one of my requirements was to have a stand alone office (preferably with french doors, hard wood floors, huge closest, built in’s and great light!) That’s not too much to ask for, is it!? Well fast forward about a year later and that dream became a reality! Y’all, I seriously smile every time I walk into my office. This is where I spend 80% of my time working and I can tell you, working in a space that you love, really does help your productivity!
When we were finishing our house, we had our carpenters custom build these amazing built in’s on the far wall in my office. They span about 8 feet tall and about 7 feet wide and have bronze sconces installed at the top of each section. The bottom has 1 long cabinet behind 6 doors that helps with storing printers and miscellaneous items. These are seriously my pride and joy and I had just as much fun decorating these shelves as my kids have at Christmas!
I won’t lie, when we first moved in, I was using a folding table as a desk, of course, that desk had a gold table cloth to jazz it up some! But I was lucky enough to score a (free!) white desk and rolling cart from my aunt! It was the perfect minimalist look that I wanted and it was white! (for those who don’t know me, I’m obsessed with white!)
Over on my far wall, we had two double closets put in that have shelves running all the way to the top. Seriously, an organizers dream! And somehow I still managed to fill them up within just a few weeks! This was actually almost an oversight on our house plans. Up until right before we broke ground, our plans had NO closet space in my office (I think I was too memorized by the idea of the built in’s) thankfully the people doing our kitchen cabinets brought it to our attention and we were still able to modify our plans in time.
Over time, I have added in small details to really make this space mine. With a great score on a rug from Overstock and a clearance chair from Home Goods (I LOVE a good bargain!), it was a perfect fit! I also got some great frames from Ikea and mounted some of my favorite wedding invitations in them.
I will say, sadly, my office doesn’t stay as clean as these pictures show on a daily basis, but I still love it just as much!
