Happy Anniversary! Our Wedding Story

This original post was created back in 2016 on our 7 year anniversary and I’ve just updated the number of years each time October 10th rolled around. I think this year I am going to start a tradition of writing a new paragraph for each anniversary to encapsulate what that year meant to us. Enjoy a trip down memory lane!

11 years

{2020} Well. There are a lot of things I could say about 2020, probably non of them suitable for this space. ?  It’s been a heck of a year for this world we call home. The year of Covid-19, insane politics, 6 month-long spring breaks, virtual schooling and 11 years of marriage.

While this year threw us more curveballs than we thought possible, we have managed like champs. This year all three girls never got to go back to school from their Spring Break due to Covid and instead were home with me and Troy for the next 6 months. And through it all, we survived.

Troy and I navigated through him working from home all year (and probably indefinitely) but blessed beyond measure for his job. We have virtual schooled and learned that homeschooling is NOT in my DNA, ever. We’ve canceled many grand plans for both personal and business, but we have learned to enjoy the slow and each other.

11 years have flown by in the blink of an eye, but each year truly has gotten better and better. I love our inside jokes and nightly binges of the latest series. But most of all I love you and the fact that we can spend all our time together and not grow tired of one another.

Babe – if we can survive 2020, we can survive anything. I pray that when I come back to write our 12 year anniversary that I’ll read back through this and laugh at how insane 2020 was and what a distant memory it was. Cheers to 11 years, I love you.

10 years

{2019} I’m currently writing this from a quaint little cabin in North Georgia that we’ll call home for the next several days as we celebrate our 10 year anniversary. With this being our first double digit, I wanted to actually DO something this year to celebrate just us. It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle of life and easily let things like this slip away with just an I love you and a promise to do something later.

So for the next several days we’ll be hiking, eating, wine tasting and just enjoying each other. I think after 10 years (and 3 crazy kids!), that’s the least we deserve!

I know that I have seen our love grow each year, but I am just in awe of where we are at this 10 year marker. I know it’s so cliche, but our relationship and love has grown 10 fold. I honestly don’t know if either of us would have survived the last few years alone, having each other to turn to at the end of the day has been our saving grace.

This last year has been a particularly hard one, not for our marriage, but just for life in general. In the span of a few weeks I lost both of my grandmothers, our dog of 15 years, and the twins turned 4 and have a secret mission to see how crazy they can make us, I’ve spent countless hours (along with blood, sweat and tears) building a second business, but through it all, we had each other.

Troy – I know you secretly scroll the gram’ and read all of my posts, but if you ever make it over to this blog, I love you more than you know and am so thankful that God brought you into my life 14 years ago at the infamous Grog House where even then you were my saving grace 😉 Here’s to many more.

9 Years

{2018} Today marks 9 years of marriage for me and my hunny! When we got married in 2009 I was fresh out of college with a BFA in Graphic Design and knew nothing about the stationery industry but set out to design my own wedding invitations with this fancy new degree I had just gotten. And believe it or not, I don’t even have a picture of them (boo!). I spent over a year planning our wedding and had.so.much.fun. I seriously enjoyed every minute of it. I know it’s probably very cliché, but this is what spurred my love for the wedding industry and the following year is when I started my business.

I hope you enjoy a walk down memory lane! Photos by the amazing Ashley McCormick.
