5 Reasons Why You Should Hire a Wedding Planner

As Part 2 of my Business Matters Series, I am talking about why it is SO important to hire a wedding planner. One of my favorite things is to work alongside a wedding planner when helping a client come up with their dream wedding stationery. When a wedding planner is involved, things seem to go much smoother. There are several reasons for this. The wedding planner and the bride have come up with a seamless vision for the wedding day that they can easily be translated into the stationery. Another reason is that the wedding planner is experienced in the industry and will know what is needed for the big day, and can voice their creative ideas to help make something magical! I mean, who wouldn’t want TWO creatives teaming up to make your stationery that much more special!?

One of my favorite wedding planners to work with is Adair of Dairing Events. I am always blown away by how creative she is and how absolutely breathtaking each and every one of her weddings turns out. She always brings such great ideas to the table for her clients wedding stationery and it always turns out spectacular! Today, Adair is sharing her top 5 reasons why you should hire a wedding planner and how they can help your big day be something magical!

1. Budget: The first thing that your Wedding Planner will help you with is building a budget that works for you and your expectations.

If your wedding planner doesn’t start off by discussing your budget with you, you have not found the right vendor for the job. We need to know what you are investing in, in order to build the plans around what is affordable as well as with what is in line with you and your expectations. When I work with my clients, I would not bring them to someone who does not match their needs and can’t deliver within their budget constraints. I think that would be a disservice to my clients to only show them a ‘lower end’ vendor or even a more ‘high end vendor’. Every vendor needs to be in line and complimentary of the services they will provide during the planning process and especially on the wedding day.

2. Matching you with other vendors that fit your personality and needs.

More than matching a client with a vendor who is in line with what they are able to invest in, it is about matching our clients with vendors who have similar personalities. I know I am not every brides wedding planner and every bride is not my ‘target bride’. It is so important for me to get to know my couples, likes and dislikes, in order to match them with the right providers.

3. Help create a design plan without using Pinterest.

Pinterest is officially the devil and the devil is in the details. I know that this platform has become highly popular as of late and rightfully so, but, I believe that it provides unrealistic expectations on REAL weddings for a lot of my clients. Not every wedding happens outside. ESPECIALLYY in Florida. Rain is a VERY real thing and it is something we cannot ignore. You have to have a rain plan from the very beginning of the planning process. More than the Plan B, Pinterest is set up with a particular algorithm that only shows the most popular posts, which means you could be repinning pictures from seven years ago!! That isn’t always a bad thing, but be mindful that if you really want to know the most recent and ‘trendy’ information, magazines will always be your go to. Also, be sure to check out and follow wedding professionals instagrams and blogs! I personally create a design plan without using Pinterest. My clients do not receive a Pinterest link from me with their wedding inspiration.

4. Remind you of your budget when you start to forget.

This tends to happen halfway through the planning process. Planning progresses quickly, vendors get booked, and then there is just a few months of limbo where you feel like you need to be doing something. Suddenly you HAVE to have a wedding favor, a photobooth, three videographers, cocktail hour entertainment, etc. I will be the one to redirect and help you reevaluate. It isn’t that I think you shouldn’t have these things, but the reality is you may not be able to afford them.

5. Be the voice of reason when explaining expectations and your wants to family members.

No matter how lovely your fiancé is, your mom, or even your mother in law. They will say things, offer advice, and comment on the planning decisions and just the thought of them breathing near you will make you upset. I can’t tell you the amount of times that my brides have called me crying. NO, they are NOT being Bridezillas. They are being thoughtful, beautiful brides, who have had a vision and a dream and because these people who they also love with all their hearts are saying things, they are starting to reevaluate the decisions they have already made. Here is my simple piece of advice. If you don’t want to hear their opinion, don’t ask. Don’t ask your groom what color napkin you should have for dinner or if the cocktail tables need a mint julep cup arrangement. You will never like what they have to say, so instead, just ask me and tell them, they will just be surprised on the wedding day.
